“A child’s behavior is a reflection of their attempts to communicate in the only way they know how.”
COUNSELING FOR KIDS
Is your child struggling in ways you can’t quite put your finger on? Are you wrestling with intense emotional reactions, school challenges, difficulty with friendships, or big behaviors that seem to come out of nowhere? It can be hard to know what your child needs — and even harder to know how to help!
After nearly three decades of counseling and educating children, I’ve supported kids and families through almost every type of experience. What feels confusing or mysterious to you is often something I can help make sense of!
I specialize in working with children as young as two through late adolescence, helping them build emotional awareness, develop flexible thinking skills, strengthen social relationships, and grow their executive-functioning abilities.
Much of my work centers on supporting neurodivergent children, including those with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, processing differences, and unique learning styles. I view neurodivergence not as something to fix, but as a meaningful difference in a world that isn’t always designed with their needs in mind. My positive, engaging style helps young people feel safe enough to explore their inner world and confident enough to begin making meaningful changes.
If this resonates with you or feels like what your child may need, I’d love to schedule a free 15-minute consultation call to see whether I’m the right fit for your family.
When working with children, I primarily utilize Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for Children (DBT-C).
PARENT/CAREGIVER SUPPORT
Parenting a child who is struggling can feel overwhelming, confusing, and isolating — and you don’t have to navigate it alone. I partner closely with parents and caregivers to help you understand your child’s needs, strengthen connection at home, and develop practical strategies that actually work for your family’s daily life.
I use research-based, developmentally informed approaches to support parents/caregivers, offering guidance that is compassionate, grounded, and tailored to your unique situation. As part of a cohesive treatment plan, I typically meet with parents every 3–4 sessions when working with a child, and more often whenever you request additional support or collaboration. As a former teacher and school counselor, I have also have experience building and working with 504 and IEP plans.
Over the years, I’ve worked with all kinds of families — including those navigating divorce, blended family dynamics, co-parenting challenges, and differing parenting styles. My goal is to empower you with clarity, confidence, and tools that reduce stress and strengthen your relationship with your child.
When working with parents and caregivers, I primarily utilize skills and strategies from child-parent relationship training (CPRT) and from Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Children (DBT-C)..
